On the evening of December 25, 2019, God called one of his children, Marian Elizabeth Farrar, 94 to His place of rest. She was born on August 18, 1925, in LaPlata, MD to William Bernard Briscoe and Ruth Kelly-Briscoe-Milburn. She was the youngest of four children.
Marian was educated in the Charles County School System. She was the Valedictorian of Bel Alton High School. In 1944 Marian married the love of her life, Roy A. Farrar, Sr., and that union lasted 40 years until his death on November 17, 1985.
Marian played a key role in several business ventures. She was appointed Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer of the Blue Jay/Enterprises. She devoted her time as a proponent of health and good living. Marian was a Shaklee distributor who enjoyed sharing the benefits of the products with many people she encountered. She garnered many honors and awards from the Shaklee organization. She involved herself in civic and social organizations, including being a member of The American Legion Post # 170, Women's Auxiliary (in which her husband founded), and a member of the "8-Polka-Dots" Club.
She was a very prominent leader in the community of Charles County. She was active in politics as a poll worker at election booths in her district. She was an instructor of the St. Peter's Church's catechism. She was a scoring statistician for the local Little and Pony League teams. She volunteered for the Animal Rescue Organization. She also was a retired employee of the U.S. Postal Service.
Marian was a wonderfully devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was extremely proud of her family. After her youngest great-granddaughter was born (Raliyah), she renamed her as Gran and the family stuck with that name. Gran's passion included traveling with family, playing cards with Tyrone, and solving her word search puzzles. Gran loved to get her nails manicured and would always have her face made up whenever you came to visit. She enjoyed visits from family and friends. She loved when ministers came to bring her Communion. and the Mennonites would come and play the violin for her with many of God’s amazing Hymns. Gran was a woman with a strong faith in God. She loved the Lord with her whole heart. Every moment spent with family members and friends was special to her. She appreciated it very much because it reminded her of how much God loved her.
