Gladys Noval Turner, 68
of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, went to walk with
the Lord on August 22, 2017. Born to Albert and Gladys Martha Turner, March
8, 1949, Gladys went by her middle name, Norval, to her loved ones. She was
the last of the first batch of 10 brothers and sisters. Norval grew up on a
beautiful farm in Brandywine, Maryland, with all of her siblings playfully
at her side. She was surely the dancer of the bunch, always looking for the
chance to shake a leg at the latest dance craze, High School sock hop, or even grabbing her son, Bryan, for a twist and a turn, while vacuuming the living room. In Norval's years at Frederick Douglas High School, she would meet a strapping young man named Marvin. The two would become High School sweethearts and best friends from then on. After graduating in 1967, Norval attended Morgan State University on a full scholarship. She soon after, married her high school sweetheart, Marvin on June 26, 1970, where they would form an unbreakable love bond that would stand the test of time. Norval's first child, Julie Angelique, was born on February 22, 1971. Norval and Julie would go on to tackle the fashion world as we know it. The two were inseperable, especially when it came to creating looks of high fashion and glamour. Later, Norval would go on to have a son, Bryan Keith, on June 23, 1977. Norval always loved and promoted Bryan's talents as an artist, through his childhood, and his professional career. There was not a co-worker or family member that didn't know about her baby's drawings. While raising two children, Norval was building a career as a Health Claims Analyst, for companies such as; New York Life and Kaiser Permanente. In her career, Norval created many training programs that were used thoughout the country. Thoughout Norval's adult life, her relationship with God grew stronger and stronger, always proclaiming her love for the Lord, and offering scripture and guidance to any listening ear. She was an ever giving soul, physically and spirtually, inspiring her family to live through Jesus, especially in the most trying of times. This was her most celebrated gift to us all. Norval is survived by her loving husband, Marvin, son Bryan, daughter-in-law, Melissa, and beautiful grandchildren, Elijah, Elyse, Ella, and Elias. Norval is also forever loved by her many brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, cousins, and countless, long life friends. Norval was preceded, in death, by her daughter Julie.
